GUARD YOUR EARS

With the APEC summit descending onto Sydney as we speak I’ve found searching for bargains very difficult what with having to dodge protesters and foreign businessmen.
So today instead of handing over another great store location I’ve decided to write a how to guide.
AKA how to buy cheap accessories without destroying your ears or skin.
We’ve all been there girls, we think we’ve found a gorgeous pair of earrings or a stunning necklace onto have the cheap metal hooks infect out ears and the copper clasps turning our necks green.
Once I bought a pair of earrings so dodgy I ended up cutting my ears open!
The problem is that this is a cynical dark world with many shops resorting to cheap fill-ins for costume jewellery.
So what’s a girl to do?
1: Always check the packaging when buying earrings even if they do only cost two dollars. Unless they say the hooks are made out of some sort of hypo allergic metal DO NOT PURCHASE THEM. Believe me your ears will thank me.
There are many cheap accessory stores such as Diva Equip and Hot Dollar that only carry earrings with safe hooks.
2: While browsing the markets you may consider buying a gorgeous and surprisingly cheap bracelet or necklace from India or the Middle East. WALK AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF THE PAIN. Although these countries do carry some amazing pieces anything less then ten dollars uses a copper base, which will stain your skin, a horrible zombie shade of green.
3: Try to avoid cheap pieces that feel heavy in your hand because they will rip your ears to shreds.
4: People can tell if the pearls or gold your wearing happens to be fake, cheap jewellery is about being fun and flaunting the fact that its far from real. Try for fun things like bangles, skull shaped pendants or cherry shaped earrings.
Remember you’re trying to look fun not posh.
Some of the best places the buy nice cheap jewellery includes.
Equip.
Diva.
Hot Dollar.
Valley Girl.
The Reject Shop.
Places to avoid? I’d suggest Target and Grace Brothers not only do they sell the exact same stuff over priced it breaks far too easily.
