Stingy Stitches - November 2007

How to be an INDIE IT GIRL.

November 17th 2007 00:55
1: Never actually set foot into a real clothing store or even an upmarket vintage shop, Instead go to Saint Vinnie's and buy anything that even remotely fits.

2: Wear it all together and I do mean ALL OF IT. Wear straw hats with evening dresses and over sized sunglasses, ski boots with mini skirts and big plastic jewelery.

3: Ignore what suites you. No self respecting Indie It Girl would ever wear a dress that LOOKS NICE on her.

4: As for your hair it can go one or both ways, one obsess with past time periods and style your hair as if your DITA VONTEESE. Or forget about styling your hair and just attend the red carpet with the air of someone whose jumped out of bed.

On a budget of thirty dollars

Therine and Feven Newtown

November 3rd 2007 11:54
One of the things I've always loved about Newtown is that if you go away for two months you'll come back and find at least five new fly by night outlet stores. Of course they'll be gone again within a month or two so you have to act fast. Yesterday I went on an epic journey to find my mother a birthday present and I walked into Therine and Feven a new jewelery store on King Street determinded to buy a nice set of earings. The first sales girl I spoke to could barely understand english but she informed me the earrings I purchased for thirty nine dollars were silver plated.
Fair enough.
Then much to my shock the second salesgirl informed me that they were in fact WHITE GOLD earrings
